2008 Employee Art Contest
I submitted these three collages for the Employee talent contest. Of 600 entries and 3000 voters, the first two made the top 25. They were included in a traveling art show that went to World Headquarters in Walldorf Germany, Newtown Square and Palo Alto in the United States, Vancouver and Montréal in Canada, São Paulo in Brazil, Shanghai in China, and Bangalore in India.

Diversity Works@SAP: Employee Creativity on Display in Traveling Art Exhibit
The 2008 Global Diversity Days at SAP, under the motto The “Art” of Diversity: Spirit of Creativity, revealed SAP as a global company that understands, appreciates, and welcomes the uniqueness of all employees, regardless of cultures, languages, life styles, practices, beliefs, traditions, and history. One of the highlights of Global Diversity Days was a competitive virtual talent contest, which enabled colleagues in all locations worldwide to participate and showcase their unique creativity. More than 600 entries were submitted in the categories of Visual Arts, Photographic Arts, Performance Arts – Individual, and Performance Arts – Group, with 3,000 colleagues voting for the winners, who came from India, China, Germany, and many other countries.
Working together with SAP’s art curator Alexandra Cozgarea, head of Global Diversity Alice Leong and Silvia Maier from the Global Diversity Office, have announced the official opening of a global “traveling” exhibit of the employee artwork from the visual and photographic arts categories. For two months, starting in mid-June, the top 25 vote-getters in each of these two categories will go on display in the main entrance area of Building 1 in Walldorf; copies have been printed with the artists’ permission to protect the originals. The exhibit will rotate new prints after four weeks. After the prints are exhibited in Walldorf, they will be moved to Building 3 in St. Leon-Rot for permanent display or after they have returned from traveling.
The exhibit will also travel to other locations where the contest winners are located or to offices that have the largest employee populations and the requisite space to display the artwork. Exhibit locations so far include Newtown Square and Palo Alto in the United States, Vancouver and Montréal in Canada, São Paulo in Brazil, Shanghai in China, and Bangalore in India.
If you didn’t have a chance to see the hidden talent in the Employee Virtual Talent Contest last year – don’t miss the opportunity to check it out this time around and discover the incredible creativity of your colleagues.
Organizers are starting to plan for 2009 Global Diversity Week, which is tentatively scheduled for October. Additional locations and activities will be added this year, and another art contest is being considered. Stay tuned for more opportunities to show your creative side and how Diversity Works@SAP!
